How To Set Up An Email Account Using Windows Mail
The following instructions refer to setting up an email account in Windows Mail.
We have used test@ballyhoodemo.co.uk as an example in each step but you should substitute this email address, or any other items, with the details we have supplied you with where appropriate.
Getting Started
Open Windows Mail on your PC or laptop.
Go to Tools and select Accounts.
This will open a new window.
Internet Accounts
Click Add, located down the right side of the window.
A new window will open.
Configure Your New Email Account
Select Account Type
Select E-Mail Account from the list and click Next.
Your Name
Add your Display Name to the empty field, this could be either your own name or the name of your company. This will be displayed to anyone who receives an email from you.
Click Next.
Internet E-mail Address
Add your E-mail Address to the empty field and click Next.
Set Up E-mail Servers
Ensure POP3 is selected as the Incoming E-Mail Server Type.
Add the address of your Incoming Mail Server, this will be pop.yourdomain.co.uk.
Add the address of your Outgoing E-Mail Server Name, this will be mail.yourdomain.co.uk.
You must also ensure the Outgoing Server Requires Authentication box is ticked.
Click Next.
Internet Mail Logon
In the E-mail Username field add your email address (the same email address you entered in the Internet E-mail Address screen).
You must also add the password we provided to you in the Password field.
Ensure the Remember Password box is ticked.
Click Next.
Congratulations
You will now see a congratulations screen, please click Finish. This will close the window.
Internet Accounts
Back in the Internet Accounts window, select the mail account you have just created and click Properties, located on the right of the window.
Properties
General
In this tab you can add further information such as your Organisation name or edit your Display Name.
Advanced
In this tab, under Server Port Numbers you need to change the Outgoing Mail value to 587.
Click OK.
You now also click Close in the Internet Accounts window.
And Finally…
To start receiving emails you simply need to click on the Send/Receive button in the top toolbar.
Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+M on your keyboard.
