<p>Essex Police Federation have recently started adding content to this content managed website we developed for them last year. The website aims to keep Police Officers in Essex up-to-date with the latest developments in their area as well as provide a source of information and advice relating to their profession.</p>
<p>Content management is ideal when frequent additions to a website are likely. Content management systems (CMS) offer a facility to add new pages to the site without the need for web development experience or a knowledge of code such as HTML. New articles and pages can be added in minutes and the structure of the site can be modified just as easily. On a website like this, where the information stored has to be kept up to date at all times, a content managed solution seemed the obvious choice. The Essex Polfed site was therefore built on the Joomla content management system, an open source application that is perfect for the volume of content expected.</p>
<p>In light of the professional nature of the site a simple, clean-cut design was used that allows the user to remain focused on the valuable content rather than be distracted by loud graphics and effects.</p>
<p>Essex Police Federation have also taken advantage of our support and maintenance service. Sometimes our customers do not have the resources, or enough technical know-how, to manage their site effectively in-house. In these situations we offer a support and maintenance contract, a simple arrangement whereby the customer sends over any updates they require and we add them to the website. We agree a fixed monthly fee for support (usually 1 &#8211; 2 hours), a guaranteed response time and the customer can be assured that all updates are carried out correctly by a trained professional. The support and maintenance contract is an economical choice too as we track each update down to the minute and are very efficient due to our experience in this area.</p>
<p>If you are interested in commissioning a content managed website, or would like to know more about support and maintenance contracts, please <a title="Contact Us" href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/contact-us/" target="_self">get in touch</a>.</p>

<p>We have used <strong>test@ballyhoodemo.co.uk</strong> as an example in each step but you should substitute the email address or any other details we have supplied you with where appropriate.</p>
<p><span id="more-2165"></span></p>
<h3>Getting Started</h3>
<p>Open <strong>Incredimail</strong> on your computer. Under the <strong>Tools</strong> menu select <strong>Email Accounts</strong>.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-1.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2166" title="Incredimail Image 1" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-1.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="310" /></a></p>
<h3>Mail Accounts</h3>
<p>The <strong>Mail Accounts</strong> window will open. Select <strong>Add</strong> on the right-hand side of the window.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-2.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2168" title="Incredimail Image 2" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-2.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="300" /></a></p>
<h3>Account Wizard</h3>
<p>The <strong>Account Wizard</strong> window will now open. Select <strong>Let me configure settings myself</strong> and click <strong>Next</strong>.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-3.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2169" title="Incredimail Image 3" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-3.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="340" /></a></p>
<p>On the next screen select <strong>Other</strong> as your email account.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-4.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2170" title="Incredimail Image 4" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-4.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="339" /></a></p>
<p>Under <strong>Connect To Your Account</strong> add your<strong> name</strong>, the <strong>email address</strong> you want to connect to and the <strong>password</strong> for your email account. Click <strong>Next</strong>.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-5.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2171" title="Incredimail Image 5" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-5.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="340" /></a></p>
<p>Incredimail will cleverly look at the details you have already added and preset the <strong>incoming mail server type</strong> you require. If it does not, you need to set this as<strong> POP3</strong>.</p>
<p>Next add the <strong>Incoming mail server</strong>, this will be <strong>pop.</strong>yourdomainname. The <strong>Outgoing mail server</strong> will be <strong>mail.</strong>yourdomainname. Click <strong>Next</strong>.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-6.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2172" title="Incredimail Image 6" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-6.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="339" /></a></p>
<p>Incredimail will then try to connect to your email account and fail. This is because there a few more setting we need to add. Click <strong>Skip</strong>.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-7.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2173" title="Incredimail Image 7" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-7.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="340" /></a></p>

<h3>Mail Account Properties</h3>
<p>When this window opens click on the <strong>Servers</strong> tab. Check all the information in this window is correct and ensure <strong>My server requires authentication</strong> is ticked.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-8.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2174" title="Incredimail Image 8" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/incredimail-8.jpg" alt="" width="450" height="353" /></a></p>

<p>The Ballyhoo Commerce e-commerce system also functions excellently as a content management system. The following instructions advise you how to add a basic content page to your e-commerce website.</p>

<p>For each enabled language you will need to add:</p>
<h4>Link Title</h4>
<p>The link text as it will appear in the navigation.</p>
<h4>Page Title</h4>
<p>This is usually the same as the Link Title and appears at the top of the content page.</p>

<p>The content of your page can be added to this field and formatted using the text-editing toolbar. Images, external links and other items such as PDFs can also be added in this field.</p>
<p>Click <strong>Insert</strong> to save the changes and add the new content page to your site.</p>

<p>Our e-commerce software Ballyhoo Commerce will support the Welsh language as of Version 1.9.7.</p>
<p>Translations have been added for all of the text that is standard with any installation of our e-commerce software.</p>
<p>This means that you will be able to add products and content to your site in Welsh as well as English, giving your users the <strong>flexibility </strong>to view your website in their preferred language.</p>
<p>Although Welsh is a minority language, we thought it would be a great addition to the system as so many of our customers are based in Wales.</p>
<p>However, the system is not limited to Welsh and is capable of supporting any number of languages &#8211; some of which will be added as standard to the system in the future &#8211; including<strong> French, German and Spanish</strong>.</p>
<p>If you are an existing e-commerce customer and want to use this facility on your website you need only pay for the time it takes us to upgrade your site to Version 1.9.7 (when released) &#8211; which could be as little as<strong> £40 &#8211; £80</strong>.</p>
<p>New e-commerce customers will enjoy this feature as standard.</p>
<p>For more information or to upgrade your e-commerce website <a title="Contact Us" href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/contact-us/" target="_blank">please get in touch</a>.</p>

<p>Under Mail, Contacts, Calendars select <strong>Add Account&#8230;</strong></p>
<h3>Step Four</h3>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-4.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-2086 aligncenter" title="iPhone Add Account" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-4.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="510" /></a></p>
<p>Add Account will show you a variety of mail accounts supported by the iPhone. You need to select <strong>Other</strong>.</p>
<h3>Step Five</h3>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-5.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-2087 aligncenter" title="iPhone Other Account" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-5.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="510" /></a></p>
<p>You now need to select <strong>Add Mail Account</strong> under Mail on the Other menu.</p>
<h3>Step Six</h3>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-6.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-2088 aligncenter" title="iPhone New Account" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-6.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="510" /></a></p>
<p>In this window you need to enter your basic account details; your name, email address, password and a description of the account, for example Work or Personal. Click <strong>Save</strong>.</p>
<p>The address you have entered will be the username requested in the following steps and the password will be the same in all instances.</p>
<h3>Step Seven</h3>
<p>The next page you see requires you to enter further details about your email account. A number of fields will be pre-populated with information you supplied in the previous step.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-7.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-2089 aligncenter" title="iPhone Pop Settings" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-7.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="510" /></a></p>
<p>You must first ensure <strong>POP</strong> is selected instead of IMAP.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-8.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-2090 aligncenter" title="iPhone Incoming Mail Server" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-8.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="510" /></a></p>
<p>Then enter the incoming mail server details. The host name will always begin with pop followed by your domain, for example pop.ballyhoodemo.co.uk.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-9.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-2091" title="iPhone Outgoing Mail Server" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-9.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="510" /></a></p>
<p>Scroll further down this page to enter the Outgoing Mail Server details. In this instance the host name will always begin with mail, for example mail.ballyhoodemo.co.uk.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Click <strong>Save</strong>.</p>
<h3>Step Eight</h3>
<p>Your iPhone will now try to connect to your mail server securely for incoming mail. If you do not have an SSL certificate installed on your website you will see the following message:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-10.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-2092 aligncenter" title="iPhone Secure Connection Failed 1" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-10.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="510" /></a></p>
<p>Although secure connection has failed be assured that your emails will still be secure as they are sent and received &#8211; the connection has simply not been validated by a certificate authority but is equally secure under what is known as a self-certification certificate.</p>
<p>To continue setting up your email account click <strong>Continue</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-11.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-2082 aligncenter" title="iPhone Secure Connection Failed 2" src="http://www.ballyhoo.ltd.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/iphone-image-11.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="510" /></a></p>
<p>Your iPhone will then try to your mail server securely for outgoing mail. Again, if you do not have an SSL certificate installed on your domain the above message will appear. To ignore it click <strong>Continue</strong>.</p>
<p>You should now be able to successfully send and receive emails from the email account you have just set up.</p>
