E-Commerce Support: Managing Categories
For help managing your product categories using the Ballyhoo Commerce software please view our short instructional video or read the written guide.
Managing Categories
Managing product categories is an important part of running an online store. Doing this well ensures customers can browse your site easily and find exactly what they are looking for. Ballyhoo Commerce gives you enormous flexibility to make this possible.
Go to the website Dashboard.
Click on Product Manager, then click on Category Editor.
Add New Category
To add a new category to the list click on Add New Main Category.
On this page you will need to enter the Category Title and an optional Description, which could simply be text about what’s included in that category, links to other pages or even images.
Click Insert and the category will be created.
Sub-Categories
At the bottom of the list will be the category you have just created. Unlike some other e-commerce platforms, with Ballyhoo you can have an unlimited number and depth of categories. You can have as many categories as you like and each of those can have as many sub-categories as you wish.
To add a sub-category click on Add Sub-Category beside the category. This takes you to a page in the same format that was used to create the main category. Add the Category Title and Description and click Insert.
You can add sub-categories to sub-categories and so forth, there is no limit.
Category Order
If you don’t like the order in which the categories appear, you can move them into any order you wish. Click and hold on the category title you wish to move, drag it to the new position and drop. You can change the order of all of the sub-categories too.
These are updated on the shop-front as soon as you move them.
