Essex Police Federation have recently started adding content to this content managed website we developed for them last year. The website aims to keep Police Officers in Essex up-to-date with the latest developments in their area as well as provide a source of information and advice relating to their profession.

Content management is ideal when frequent additions to a website are likely. Content management systems (CMS) offer a facility to add new pages to the site without the need for web development experience or a knowledge of code such as HTML. New articles and pages can be added in minutes and the structure of the site can be modified just as easily. On a website like this, where the information stored has to be kept up to date at all times, a content managed solution seemed the obvious choice. The Essex Polfed site was therefore built on the Joomla content management system, an open source application that is perfect for the volume of content expected.

In light of the professional nature of the site a simple, clean-cut design was used that allows the user to remain focused on the valuable content rather than be distracted by loud graphics and effects.

Essex Police Federation have also taken advantage of our support and maintenance service. Sometimes our customers do not have the resources, or enough technical know-how, to manage their site effectively in-house. In these situations we offer a support and maintenance contract, a simple arrangement whereby the customer sends over any updates they require and we add them to the website. We agree a fixed monthly fee for support (usually 1 – 2 hours), a guaranteed response time and the customer can be assured that all updates are carried out correctly by a trained professional. The support and maintenance contract is an economical choice too as we track each update down to the minute and are very efficient due to our experience in this area.

Burn Hall is located in Yorkshire and offers superior accommodation, dining and corporate facilities. Ballyhoo was asked to develop their new website by World Renowned on a content management system allowing Burn Hall the ability to update their content as and when they wish.

We decided to build this website using the Joomla! content management system, a system we favour due to it’s flexibility, something that we needed with a fairly complex design such as this.

This site has also been integrated with Burn Hall’s online booking facility. Users can check if their intended dates are available through an application on the Book Now page and proceed to book these dates on Burn Hall’s separate booking website.

Tony wants users of his website to be able to purchase prints of his photographs with a few easy clicks. Each gallery is presented to the user through a picture viewer that opens once an image is clicked on. Users can simply click the play icon to view a slide-show of all the images in the gallery or move through the photos at their own pace.

If the user wants to purchase one of the photos they just need to select the size of print they want to buy, and the quantity, and this is then added to a PayPal shopping basket from where they can either complete the transaction or choose to continue browsing and add more.

Galleries, particularly for private affairs such as weddings, can be password protected so that only select people given login details by clients can view and purchase prints.

This site has been developed on a custom content management system which allows Tony full control over the content of the website and also lets him add photo galleries quickly and easily.

The new design combines beautiful shots of the Devon and Cornwall area with clear and simple graphics creating a bright and attractive website.

Their previous website was built on the Joomla content management system which allowed the Police Federation to update the content of the website as and when they wished. They wanted to continue using this system due to the independence it gave them so we simply upgraded them to the newest version of the software, Joomla 1.5.15.

It was also requested that police officers and staff wanting to use the site would have to log in to see exclusive content – a simple extension of Joomla. They also wanted to display the RSS feed of the Police Oracle website to keep their users up to date with all the latest news. We implemented this as a scrolling news feed above the main navigation.

The idea is that whenever you wear the clothing you perform at least one act of kindness, such as giving up your seat on the bus.

Ballyhoo was approached to develop this website by World Renowned who provided the design and HTML/CSS. Our e-commerce software, Ballyhoo Commerce, is the backbone of the website and has also been specially customised to include a blog function, see the Ninja Duck section, and an interactive feature called Join The Movement whereby users of the website can create an Act of Random Kindness, chronicle events relating to the Ark and comment on Arks performed by themselves or others.

A new and exciting feature requested for the website, and soon to be available as part of Ballyhoo Commerce, is Magic Zoom. As shown below, when a customer hovers over the image with the cursor a window appears to allow them to view the product in closer detail. The image in the zoom window works in parallel with the cursor being moved. This benefits items with small or intricate details, such as the embroidered logo on the Λrk° t-shirt.

We were approached to build this website, designed by Create’s own in-house designer Greg Ace, having already worked with Greg on a previous project. With Create’s needs in mind, the site has been built on the Joomla content management system (CMS) which allows them freedom to easily control and update the content of their site without the need of a web developer.

The gallery feature shown below was developed using an extension for Joomla which has been customised for use throughout the site. Create can upload images for use in these galleries through Joomla quickly and easily. Visitors to the site can use the vertical bar on the left of the screen to scroll through Create’s portfolio, when a thumbnail is selected it appears as the main image allowing the user to view the image in full detail.

The Joomla CMS also allows Create to generate as many categories and pages as they require as their product range expands. The nested navigation shown below is an attractive feature we have used on many sites and will accommodate as many categories as Create wish to add.
