Ballyhoo Business Continuity Plan

At Ballyhoo we’re often asked about the procedures we have in place to protect our customers’ interests and data. In the past we’ve provided this information on request but recently we put together an official Business Continuity Plan that we are now delighted to share with you.

Ballyhoo is a small business and aims to make the very best of being a small business; we are able to respond quickly to changes in a fast moving industry and we can adapt to make use of new technologies as they emerge. Our size also allows us to maintain close contact with our customers to provide a personal service.

However, we are aware that there can be down-sides to being a small company. In an effort to demonstrate our commitment to providing lasting business relationships, and perhaps allay any fears larger organisations may have when trading with us, we have produced this business continuity document to detail many of the steps we take to protect your interests.

You’ll find this document under our About Us page along with our other business policies.

The Continuity Plan outlines in detail our practices when it comes to a variety of situations, including:

Technologies
The various technologies we use to build websites and databases and provide email services, for example PHP, JQuery, MySQL and POP.
Hosting & Backup
We’ve outlined the specification of our server, our backup process at both the remote server location and in-house and how we protect your data.
Insurance
Details of our business insurance policy and our limits of indemnity for Employer’s Liability, Public Liability and Professional Indemnity.

VAT Registration

As of today, 1st August 2011, Ballyhoo Ltd has become a VAT registered business. This means we will now be applying the current VAT rate of 20% to all of our future invoices.

Our VAT registration number is 115 9873 87.

We have taken care to inform all of our customers about this change to our business but if you were not aware of the change and would like to discuss this with us please feel free to contact us.

Unless otherwise specified, prices on our website are exclusive of VAT and any quotes provided before our registration date of 1st August 2011 are now VAT applicable.

Our Environmentally Friendly Server

We received this certificate today to let us know that, as part of our hosting provider Rackspace‘s partnership with the International Tree Foundation, trees have been planted in the UK to counteract our server’s carbon emissions.

Only tree species that are indigenous to the UK, like Rowan, Whitebeam, Lime, Ash, Hornbeam, Oak, Birch, Beech, Hazel, Goat Willow, and White Poplar, are planted. These help replenish our depleted woodlands and reduce the harmful effects of carbon emissions in our country.

As an environmentally conscious company we’re really pleased that this scheme is in place and you too can be proud that your website is part of it.

This update is a bit belated but power was restored in the office early yesterday afternoon. We have since caught up with the backlog of work our unexpected break caused and are operating as normal.

Please be assured that power failure to the office has no bearing on your website – all of our servers are remote and will not be affected should anything untoward arise here at Ballyhoo HQ.

If you need to get in touch you can always reach us by email or leave a message by phone (both of which we can access remotely through devices such as our mobile phones) and we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.

Power Cut at Ballyhoo

Due to scheduled maintenance work in our area on Monday we were without power for a short period. We are now experiencing an unexpected power cut for which we’ve had no prior warning.

Ballyhoo Ltd Celebrates It’s 1st Birthday

Today is our birthday and we are celebrating being incorporated as a Limited Company for one year.

This has been a great year for the business and has seen our range of services, skills and technologies improve and expand to meet our clients’ needs.

We hope that year two will be even better and look forward to working with new and existing customers alike.
