Acts Of Random Kindness – Λrk° – is a unique not-for-profit organisation based in Ireland that aims to improve the world by encouraging people to perform random acts of kindness (Arks) while wearing their ethically-produced brand clothing. The idea is that whenever you wear the clothing you perform at least one act of kindness, such as giving up your seat on the bus.
Ballyhoo was approached to develop this website by World Renowned who provided the design and HTML/CSS. Our e-commerce software, Ballyhoo Commerce, is the backbone of the website and has also been specially customised to include a blog function, see the Ninja Duck section, and an interactive feature called Join The Movement whereby users of the website can create an Act of Random Kindness, chronicle events relating to the Ark and comment on Arks performed by themselves or others.
A new and exciting feature requested for the website, and soon to be available as part of Ballyhoo Commerce, is Magic Zoom. As shown below, when a customer hovers over the image with the cursor a window appears to allow them to view the product in closer detail. The image in the zoom window works in parallel with the cursor being moved. This benefits items with small or intricate details, such as the embroidered logo on the Λrk° t-shirt.
